We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team, focusing on software-defined industrial automation. This includes the transformation from hardware-based to software-defined functionality such as virtualized Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects that enhance the efficiency and flexibility of industrial automation systems.

• During your internship, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience developing key software solutions that will drive the next-gen industrial automation.
• You will work in a cross-functional team to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• In addition, you will be involved in research activities to explore new technologies and methodologies in software-defined industrial control and virtualization.
• Furthermore, you will design and implement software functionality for virtualized PLC applications, working alongside senior engineers.
• Last but not least, you will regularly prepare, present and discuss key results with the team and relevant stakeholders.

• Education: Master studies in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or comparable
• Experience and Knowledge: strong programming skills in languages such as C, Go, and/or Python; familiarity with Linux system internals (including real-time scheduling, kernel subsystems, networking); understanding of industrial automation concepts, including PLCs, is a plus
• Personality and Working Practice: you are able to analyze complex problems quickly and prioritize tasks effectively
• Enthusiasm: a passion for technology and innovation
• Languages: fluent in English, German is a plus

Start: according to prior agreement
Duration: 6 months
