Position Summary

We are looking for a Technical Trainer to design and deliver technical training programs for employees, clients, and end-users. The ideal candidate will have expertise in instructional design, technical concepts, and adult learning methodologies to ensure effective knowledge transfer. This role involves developing training materials, conducting in-person and virtual sessions, and assessing training effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Training Program Development

  • Design, develop, and update technical training courses for software, hardware, and IT systems.
  • Create engaging learning materials, including presentations, manuals, videos, and e-learning modules.
  • Tailor training programs to different audiences, including developers, system administrators, and end-users.

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Conduct instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual training sessions for internal and external users.
  • Utilize hands-on labs, interactive exercises, and real-world scenarios to enhance learning.
  • Deliver workshops, webinars, and one-on-one coaching sessions as needed.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Assess learner progress and provide feedback to ensure knowledge retention.
  • Gather feedback from trainees to improve training materials and delivery.
  • Keep training programs up to date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with technical teams to stay updated on product features and system changes.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and management to identify training needs and learning goals.
  • Develop onboarding training for new employees and technical certification programs.

 

Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+), AWS Certified Trainer, or Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) are an asset.

Technical Concepts & Methodologies

  • Strong understanding of IT systems, software development, networking, or cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
  • Familiarity with instructional design models (ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy).

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Adaptability to different learning styles and training methods.

Experience

  • 3-6 years of experience in technical training, instructional design, or IT training.
  • Experience in delivering both classroom and virtual training.
  • Exposure to content development tools.

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS): Absorb
  • Training Tools: Camtasia, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Content Management Systems: SharePoint, OneDrive
  • Collaboration Platforms: Microsoft Teams, Jira, Zoom, WebEx

Mandatory Requirements

  • Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically/internationally (passport required)
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Reliability (Level 1) clearance
