Overview

This Lab Tech 2 position is responsible for providing high quality customer service to ensure timely and accurate specimen handling throughout the respective laboratory sections, includes internal and external customers (i.e. clients, physicians, patient care services staff, allied health staff care services personnel and DPLM coworkers) while working in a fast-paced environment. This position performs and reports laboratory test results as assigned.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Specimen handling and distribution
  • Use of Information Systems
  • Specimen collection (phlebotomy and SWCL) in accordance with CMH policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with CMH shared values and service excellence programs
  • Performance of waived to moderate complexity testing and reporting; and/or specimen processing and preparation under appropriate supervision, following in-depth training and competency assessment procedures (as assigned).
  • Maintains general operations of the laboratory performs quality assurance activities

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent of 60 hours of college credits including biological science and 1-2 years experience phlebotomy or lab experience; student lab experience may be considered or

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $20.88/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
