S&W's Entrepreneurs & Private Business PCTS team

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager to join our highly skilled and experienced industry leading private client services team. The candidate will work specifically to provide pragmatic, commercial tax advice tailored to high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, focused on their entrepreneurial and other business activities. The team typically advises UK Entrepreneurs, Private Business Owners and Senior Management teams across all aspects of their UK tax affairs.

S&W's Entrepreneurs & Private Business PCTS team advises high net worth and ultra-high net worth UK based individuals and families across the following matters:

  • Structuring associated with business ownership (e.g. pre-exit planning or demergers)
  • Structuring associated with investment ownership (e.g. post-exit planning for proceeds from business sale)
  • Assistance with transactional activity - both in terms of disposals and acquisitions (e.g. tax advice to sell-side or buy-side)
  • Family business succession planning, advising business owners devise and execute a succession strategy
  • Wider estate planning & IHT.
  • Other matters associated with UK income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax.
  • Understanding of UK and non-UK residence planning also helpful

Purpose of Role

To manage your own portfolio of clients, working with Directors/Partners or alone on complex consultancy and advisory projects with a primary focus on the Entrepreneurs & Private Business Private Client Tax market.

The role will primarily focus on an advisory role whilst also managing the compliance for the complex clients in your portfolio and helping to grow and manage the wider team.

There will be scope to undertake business development of existing and new clients as well as further developing your own technical and sector knowledge and expertise whilst also having the opportunity to develop new areas of interest. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the drive and ambition to become a future Partner.

S&W have offices around the UK and we are open to flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities:

Client work

  • Manage portfolio of complex advisory cases & complete adhoc advisory advice
  • Manage portfolio of complex compliance cases
  • Technically strong and commercially pragmatic across a breadth of UK private client tax issues related to Entrepreneurs, Private Business Owners and Senior Management teams.
  • Identifying opportunities within the client portfolio and utilising wider networks to generate new client opportunities
  • Involved in business development activities/profile raising locally
  • Ensuring procedures are followed taking account of institute and HMRC guidance, where relevant

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:

  • ACA/ CTA or equivalent qualification.

Experience/Skills:

 

  • Significant UK Private Client Tax experience gained within the profession and/or industry
  • Tax advisory focus who can manage complex client work with a proven technical background
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in inheritance tax projects as well as managing complex compliance issues.
  • Existing business development skills and appetite to grow the business
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
