Summary:

Huntington Bank's Associate Director - Capital Advisory will work directly with senior originators to help connect private businesses at all stages of their lifecycle to a full spectrum of tailored Capital Markets solutions, investment banking capabilities, transition advisory, and industry expertise.  Our new colleague will train, manage, and monitor work product of Analysts and Associates and oversee the creation, maintenance, continued improvement, and production of high-quality templates to promote consistency of appearance and delivery across Capital Markets. They will work directly with senior originators to identify opportunity specific ideas, insights, industry comparable analysis, financial modeling, and ensuring all are summarized in concise, illustrative, and persuasive presentations and support all of Huntington’s regions and industry verticals while remaining committed to delivering holistic advice and bringing creative thought leadership around business transitions, complex capital structuring, and Regional Institutional Capital initiatives to drive new opportunities and relationships for HNB.

Huntington Capital Advisory will serve as the advisory conduit between local Commercial coverage, Capital Markets, Capstone, CSG, and Wealth whereby the group champions knowledge advancement of bankers—bridging the business and personal needs of our clients to assure optimal outcomes and success and is highly coordinated with Huntington Bank’s Leveraged Finance Execution team, Sponsor Coverage, Investment Bank, Capital Markets, Wealth, and local Commercial Bankers to drive new revenue growth by delivering Huntington’s balance sheet and advisory services in support of these transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Client Interaction
  • Contribute to pitch meetings and new business development discussions.
• Idea Generation
  • Anticipate needs for upcoming meetings of senior bankers’ schedule and pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of specific industry/products and demonstrate fluency in Capital Markets activities across products.
  • Identify potential transaction opportunities.
  • Complete comparable transaction analysis
• Transaction Management
  • Manage analyst and associate workflow potential and in-market transactions.
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve real-time and identify and communicate transaction issues requiring resolution.
• Coaching & Developing Others
  • Train new analysts, further develop associates, and act as a consistent resource for junior bench
  • Participate in analyst/associate recruiting and collaborate with senior team members on identifying and delivering analyst/associate feedback.
• Quality Assurance
  • Draft accurate work deliverables (CIMs, LP, pitches, internal approval memos) that demonstrate an understanding of the broad capital markets, the loan market in general, and the issue specifically.
  • Earn the trust of those above, below, and around the Associate Director for error-free work products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or economics
• FINRA Series 79, 63 or other necessary combination, or to be obtained within 6 months of hire date
• 5 or more years’ direct experience in investment banking or corporate finance

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7 or 8 years of experience working in Debt and Equity Capital Markets groups, including, Syndicated Finance, High Grade Bonds & Private Placements, Leveraged Finance & High Yield Bonds, Syndicate Sales & Loan Sales & Trading, and Equity Capital Markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and externally with clients.
• Excellent attention to detail, self-starter with intellectual curiosity and ability to share and summarize industry research and products.
• Progressive thinker and problem solver, with a strong ability to manage ambiguity & complexity and anticipate organizational demands.
• Work effectively in teams as well as independently across multiple tasks, such as CIM creation, pitches, internal approval screens, cash flow / enterprise value models, while meeting aggressive timelines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to embrace change, constructively negotiate constraints, and effectively leverage resources to create exceptional outcomes.
• Consistently model and inspire high levels of professional demeanor and integrity and mentor junior colleagues.
