Job Title: Student Project Assistant — A/V Transcription
Reports to: Assistant Librarian
Hour of work: 5-10 hours/week
Hourly Rate: $16.20
Classification: AMUSE A
Duration: April 14 – May 30, 2025 (possible extension)
Job Summary:
The student in this position will support a research project investigating the impact of recent policies on racialized librarians in Canada. This job involves listening to recorded interviews and accurately transcribing those recordings to text files. The student is expected to anonymize transcripts in accordance with guidelines. Additionally, the student will assist with file naming, minimal organization of transcript files, and uploading documents to SharePoint. Any additional training will be provided. The hours for this position may vary weekly to account for the needs of the project week beginning April 14, 2025. Some activities can be completed remotely if desired.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and SharePoint
Ability to type quickly and accurately while proofreading
Attention to detail
Excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred: students with experience in humanities or social sciences research methods
Location:
A combination of remote and on-site work.
