Summary:

Provides technical supervision and training to subordinate-level staff members; performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in a timely manner as assigned; obtains and interprets data for diagnosis and treatment of disease; performs related laboratory technology duties.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Clinical Laboratory Technologist:
1. Possession of a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.

Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Cytogenetics):
1. Possession of a restricted license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Cytogenetics in the State of New York; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for restricted licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist within the area of Cytogenetics in the State of New York.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

• Previous/current experience with cytogenetics concepts/techniques; experience with robotic technology.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheet manipulation and statistics.

• Excellent organization and strong attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills written/verbal.

• NY licensed as CLT or eligible for restricted pathway.

• Tissue Culture experience.

• Familiarity/Experience with FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) and associated principals.

• Chromosome analysis experience.

• Work in a laboratory setting.

• Experience working effectively in a team setting.
