SUMMARY
This position serves in the Logistics department in the Facilities department at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The work is manual and clerical in stock handling and inventory record keeping. The work involves receiving, issuing, delivering, and maintaining supplies, materials, and equipment in multiple storeroom or warehouse environments. Work will include the routine checking of invoices, preparing requisitions for stock replacement and assisting in maintaining stock records and inventories according to prescribed procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Checks items received or issued for proper quantity and description; unpacks, sorts, and stores items systematically on shelves, in bins, or in appropriate storage area.
2. Issues items from stock in accordance with prescribed methods and maintains appropriate stock records.
3. Operate various pieces of warehouse equipment including forklifts.
4. Prepares or assists in preparing requisitions for stock replacements.
5. Picks up and delivers items manually or in light trucks.
6. Conducts or assists in inventory procedures.
7. Other inventory activities
Education & Experience:
High School graduation/GED is required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work/industry/military/job specific experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties. Three years of experience in storeroom, inventory work including inventory control methods, operation of material handling devices and inventory management software is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of storekeeping and inventory methods.
• Knowledge of standard clerical procedures involved in stores work.
• Ability to perform standard storekeeping and inventory control methods.
• Ability to use standard computer software.
• Ability to perform clerical work and perform arithmetical calculations.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Skills to communicate clearly and effectively verbally in person, over telephone, by two-way radio and in writing.
• Ability to make minor repairs to tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform manual work in lifting and moving stock.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling devices.
Physical Requirements:
• Spends 80% of the time lifting, standing, walking, operating machinery or driving. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, solvents, moving vehicles, machinery, dust, slippery or uneven surfaces and noise.
General Information:
• Standard shift hours apply. Hours subject to change and overtime. Works assigned shift, subject to emergency call back to work during emergencies, urgent situations, special events and inclement weather.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a City driving permit.
• Certain criminal convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
