Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK), a Carnegie II Doctoral/Research Institution and a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean of the Dick & Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (College AGNR). The associate dean is administratively responsible for assisting the dean in creating, developing, managing, and advancing the academic, research, and outreach programs of the College.
TAMU-Kingsville is a member of the Texas A&M University System, reflecting the demographic population of the South Texas region. Kingsville is home of the legendary King Ranch® and located 40 miles southwest of the beaches at Corpus Christi, TX.
The College is home to three academic departments (Dept of Agriculture, Agribusiness & Environmental Sciences; Dept of Animal Science & Veterinary Technology; and Dept of Rangeland & Wildlife Sciences), where the College offers a full complement of degree programs, which are at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The College AGNR is further supported by five research and educational stakeholder-focused units: the TAMUK Citrus Center, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, King Ranch® Institute for Ranch Management, the National Natural Toxins Research Center, and the Veterinary Technology program.
The university seeks a strong leader who will advocate for the College’s programs and needs with a vision for collaborative initiatives among the disciplines within the College and university, as well as external constituents. The associate dean is expected to work collaboratively with the dean, administrators, and college faculty to enhance the state, national, and international reputation of the College of AGNR. Multi-institutional collaborative grant management, team building, and experience with federal and state funding agencies, partners, and national program leaders are desirable to advance the college research mission. This leadership position will be engaged in student recruitment and retention efforts, and promote a student-centered experience that prepares graduates for the workforce and advanced degrees.
Candidates for the position will have an earned doctorate in an agricultural and/or natural resource relevant area and qualify for the rank of associate or full professor at TAMUK. Preferred candidates will generally have obtained tenure status and have administrative experience at a doctoral-level institution. Demonstrated history of academic administrative experience at a baccalaureate or higher degree granting institution is desirable.
The negotiable and preferred appointment date is August 1, 2025. For best consideration, applicant materials should be received by April 25, 2025, however, applications will continue to be reviewed until a suitable candidate is selected.
Items must be submitted online and include a letter of interest addressing the job requirements, current curriculum vitae, names and contact information of at least five professional references, and copies of all academic transcripts of undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures.
