In support of the Department of State (DoS), Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA) Directorate, the incumbent will perform a variety of reception and customer service activities related to access control in a secure workspace. The primary function is to ensure the maintenance of necessary physical security standards during visits of personnel who are not directly cleared for office access. The incumbent will meet accredited employees and visitors, identify the need for and provide escort, and maintain personnel rosters and other administrative documentation associated with access control and similar security functions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, employees, and others requiring access to secure workspace. In this capacity: greet personnel, determine their purpose for entering the secure work area, verify their clearance level, sign them in, and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations regarding personal electronics use in the area. • Determine requirements for escorting personnel who are not accredited to the space and facilitate or provide positive escort within the space when needed. If not personally providing escort, then notify the person’s point of contact to ensure they are met in a timely manner. • Ensure that visitors have been issued and display any necessary badges to identify their escort/non-escort status. Ensure any temporary credentials are returned at the end of the visit.• Monitor external areas adjacent to the work area and verify the identity of persons who are visiting or performing general functions in the elevator lobby or hallways outside the workspace points of entry. • Manage all electronics lockers in the office lobby and assist with locker assignments and lockouts. • Oversee access to any storage facilities, data closets, or other internal/external areas to prevent unauthorized entry or penetration into the secure workspace.• Maintain sign-in logs and access rosters to ensure a high level of office security for employees and visitors.• Produce monthly/quarterly reviews related to access, including numbers of personnel entering the space and any issues/concerns encountered. Review access roster on a quarterly basis, working with appropriate offices to request removal of individuals no longer needing entry to the space. • Coordinate processes and procedures with uniformed guards, facilities services, Special Security Officers, and other offices responsible for providing security, maintenance, and oversight to maintain compliance with rules and regulations governing access to secure spaces. • Serve as Unit Security Officer and assist with emergency egress of employees and entry of first responders/emergency personnel in case of need.• Conduct other access and related duties as needed.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:
• Citizenshipo U.S. Citizenship required• Education• High school diploma or GED equivalent• Experienceo One (1) to three (3) years customer service experience relating to interacting with personnel at various levels.o Preferred: Escort or access control-related customer service experience.o Preferred: Department of State experience.• Must be able to interact with individuals at all levels and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. • Must have a positive and responsive attitude, with the ability to accept taskings, meet deadlines, and work cooperatively in both slow and fast-paced environments.• Must have excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a member of the team.• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word; have basic skills with Excel and PowerPoint.• Must be willing to learn any specific program requirements of the position.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Position will be subject to a U.S. Government Security Investigation. Incumbent must possess or obtain/maintain minimum a TOP SECRET clearance with ability to obtain special access requirements (SCI).

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
