Purpose

Are you a strategic HR professional with a passion for fostering positive workplace environments? As the Senior Employee Relations Advisor at the Dell Medical School, you will play a key role in supporting leaders, HR Business Partners, and employees by providing expert guidance on complex employee relations matters. You will ensure compliance with employment laws, institutional policies, and best practices while proactively addressing workplace concerns to minimize risk and enhance the organizational environment.

Responsibilities

Employee Relations & HR Consulting

🔹 Provide timely advice, guidance, and support to leaders and HR Business Partners on complex employee relations matters.
🔹 Investigate workplace concerns, policy violations, and disruptive behavior while ensuring a fair and consistent resolution process.
🔹 Offer guidance on employee discipline, drafting and reviewing documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Policy, Compliance & Training

🔹 Administer, interpret, and communicate human resources policies, procedures, and federal/state employment laws.
🔹 Develop and deliver training programs to leadership and employees on employee relations topics.
🔹 Serve as an expert on workplace investigations, partnering with institutional departments as needed.

Workplace Strategy & Risk Mitigation

🔹 Diagnose and analyze root causes of work environment challenges, using data-driven insights to develop proactive interventions.
🔹 Support business unit reorganizations, staff reassignments, and reductions in force in partnership with HR Business Partners.
🔹 Minimize unemployment costs by ensuring accurate documentation and participating in unemployment hearings.

Conflict Resolution & Communication

🔹 Facilitate communication between employees and leadership, guiding managers and employees through conflict resolution and problem-solving.
🔹 Serve as a strategic resource for handling employee grievances and appeals.

🔹 Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

🔹 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
🔹 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including 2+ years in employee relations.
🔹 In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
🔹 Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
🔹 Proven ability to analyze complex situations, identify risks, and develop effective solutions.
🔹 Business acumen with an understanding of academic medical center complexities.
🔹 Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and manage sensitive situations with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

🔹 Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

🔹 Experience in an academic medical center or healthcare organization.
🔹 Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or other HR-related certifications.

Salary Range

$80,000+ depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

Compliance:
