As a Senior Technical Reviewer at Waterplan, you will ensure the technical quality and accuracy of risk assessments supporting our customer-facing and product development teams. Your primary focus will be reviewing the collection, processing, and interpretation of high-quality scientific and water resource management data sourced from public datasets. Leveraging your experience in water risk assessment, GIS, and hydrology, you will independently verify analyses, uphold quality standards, and guide our team toward excellence.
This is a part-time (20-30 hours per week) independent contractor role with a 6-month initial term.
Conduct detailed technical reviews of scientific analyses to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with best practices.
Provide expert feedback and guidance to analysts and cross-functional teams, ensuring robust methodologies and interpretations.
Independently verify data integrity and analytical outcomes, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
Collaborate closely with product and client-facing teams, integrating high-quality reviewed analyses into customer insights.
Own decision-making and on-time delivery of data and assessments that meet the highest standards of technical excellence.
Experience: 6+ years of proven technical experience specifically focused on water risk assessment and hydrological analyses.
Technical skills: Expert-level GIS proficiency, strong analytical and interpretative capabilities, and extensive experience managing large, complex datasets.
Education: Degree (Masters preferred) in a water-related science or engineering discipline.
Mindset: You are proactive and hands-on with a collaborative and iterative continuous improvement mindset and approach. You are autonomous, meticulous, decisive, and capable of independently ensuring technical quality in dynamic environments.
Location: Americas or Europe, remote.
Language: Fluency in English required; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
