Eliminate food waste and build a better food system for everyone.
Pros
Great company full of mission and passion driven individuals "in it" for the right reasons.Cons
Made some errors in investments and timing was not on the company's side for fundraising, causing an acquisition by a competitor.Imperfect Foods is steadfast in our commitment to being an actively anti-racist company.
We understand that it is necessary to take ownership and accountability for building an equitable workplace where all members of our organization can truly belong. It is our responsibility to ensure that every department at every level of our business reflects the diversity of the world we live in. We aim to achieve this through our hiring practices and by championing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programming that fosters a supportive work environment where everyone can thrive and have connections across teams. DEI programming is available for all employees and we highly encourage staff participation. It is only with everyone’s unique perspectives, experiences, and beliefs that we can help shape a culture of belonging and create an environment where all Imperfectionists are celebrated.
Imperfect Foods currently has four Employee Resource Groups that provide support, enhance career development, and contribute to personal development at work. Our four ERGs are listed below:
Imperfeminists (Women and allies)
Black Imperfectionists Group (B.I.G.) (Black employees and allies)
Imperfectly Out (iO) (LGBTQIA+ employees and allies)
hAAPII (Asian American Pacific Islander employees and allies)
When you join Imperfect Foods you have the opportunity to join an ERG, help to lead an ERG, or even start a new ERG!
One in eight people may experience food security in 2021. That's why we’ve donated 8 million pounds of food to our nonprofit partners to date and partnered with Feeding America®, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a nationwide network of food banks.
It’s estimated that 1 in 8 Americans don’t have enough to eat. Meanwhile, nearly 40% of our food supply is wasted. To us, that’s unacceptable. We believe that everyone deserves access to groceries, regardless of their income or where they live. Our Reduced Cost Box program offers a 20% discount off every order to anyone who is low-income. To date, we’ve delivered nearly 400,000 reduced-cost boxes, helping ensure that no one is priced out of sustainable groceries. Delivering these discounted boxes is just one of the many ways we’re working to increase access to healthy food, particularly within food deserts, in our country. If you or someone you know is struggling to afford food, please check out our Reduced Cost Box Program.
To help nourish the next generation of changemakers, we offer operating grants to organizations who further our mission to build a kinder, less wasteful food system. The program is currently not accepting applications. Please check back here for future opportunities!
