For this project, I chose to look into the prevalence and profitability of films that pass and do not pass the Bechdel test. The Bechdel test is a metric created by Allison Bechdel that analyzes the role of women in films. To pass the test, a film must have at least two female characters that are named, those characters must speak directly to each other, and they must talk about something other than a man for at least two lines of dialogue.
Throughout this presentation, I show that films that pass the test tend to have a greater return on investment than films that do not pass.
