Level Up Your New Year’s Resolution with Personal Goal Setting

Level Up Your New Year’s Resolution with Personal Goal Setting

This 2023 Level Up Your New Year’s Resolution with Personal Goal Setting! 🤩

We just kicked-off 2023 and it’s another time of the year to chase bigger dreams and get rid of old habits. Pulling out our pen and filling out our planners has never been this exciting. It’s the thing we called, the fresh start fever, where we feel the urge to change, redirect or achieve new goals every time a new season takes off.

Just like this time around, where the first month of the year unfolds, you might have probably been feeling ecstatic and motivated on your ‘should-do list’ for 2023 and most likely you have taken some off reflecting on your game plan and new year’s resolution.

Although the journey towards your new year’s resolution sounds so thrilling, getting closer to the result is a long haul. In fact, it’s rough and bumpy. Reportedly, there are 38.5% of Americans who set their new year’s resolutions annually and about only 9% successfully completed their goals while 91% failed to keep their resolutions by the end of January. We think you can spice up your new year’s resolution by mixing it up with personal goal setting!

Here’s how you can level up your new year’s resolution with an effective approach!

Get your goal with the SMARTER approach.

Maybe in your mind you’re thinking of switching careers for a breakthrough, stepping into financial freedom, spending more time with family, hitting a healthy goal, developing a hobby or simply setting up your personal boundaries, to whichever that may be, your new year’s resolutions are valid and you can recalibrate your resolutions with SMARTER goals.

  • Specific - Setting up what's important to you would help in narrowing your priority. Ponder on what you really need and write it down. Remember: a goal should be clear and ain’t confusing.

  • Measurable - Your goal is quantifiable. You can ask yourself, how can I track my progress?

  • Action-oriented - It is driven towards action. Walk the talk and not just talk the walk or talk and talk. What steps does it take to achieve your goal?

  • Realistic - Your goal can be ambitious but it should be achievable. Make sure your target is practical and within your capabilities and resources.

  • Time-bound - Your goal should be built with the constraint of time. In this way, you can avoid slacking-off, a deadline will help to keep on track with the plan.

  • Evaluate - Your goal can be evaluated! Taking some time to understand your performance will help if the goal still aligns with what you need.

  • Recalibrate - You own your own goal and it can be readjusted. Adjusting your goal on what’s working and not can help to accelerate your progress to the finish line.

To whatever you have set your mind into, you can achieve it! This is a great opportunity to start something new. Use it and grow magic with your potential. No amount of crystal balls and manifestation could take away you and your decision to stay committed to your goal. Go get it, go-getter!
