Your Role 

As a Back-End Engineer on the Agent Builder team, you will design and implement production-grade APIs, services, and infrastructure that enable complex task automation and AI agent orchestration in healthcare claim management workflows. These services form the critical backbone that connects front-end interfaces with advanced AI models, enabling seamless collaboration between intelligent agents and human users in solving healthcare's most complex operational challenges. 

You'll contribute directly to the evolution of our agent-driven architecture, ensuring that all backend systems are built with scalability, observability, and maintainability as a primary focus. Your work will influence not just service functionality, but the platform-wide standards that drive API consistency, performance excellence, and system reliability across our AI-powered healthcare solutions. 

In this role, you will: 

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript and OpenAPI specifications, following modern API-first principles that enable seamless integration between UI components, analytics systems, and AI agent workflows. 

• Build and maintain RESTful endpoints and service contracts that support complex data workflows across healthcare claim processing, ensuring robust communication between front-end applications and AI orchestration layers. 

• Integrate and optimize data sources, such as Elasticsearch, into clean, modular APIs that support high-performance data access patterns and efficient caching strategies for real-time agent operations. 

• Collaborate strategically with front-end engineers, architects, and product stakeholders to define service contracts, data flows, and integration patterns that enable complex healthcare workflows and AI agent collaboration. 

• Champion system reliability by ensuring performance optimization, comprehensive observability, and fault tolerance across all backend services, with particular focus on the demanding requirements of healthcare data processing. 

• Drive infrastructure excellence by ensuring smooth deployment and monitoring of agent-driven services. 

• Maintain code quality by writing clean, testable code that follows industry best practices and enables fast iteration cycles while supporting the complex requirements of AI agent orchestration. 

Technologies you'll work with include Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, Elasticsearch, and modern backend infrastructure tools—with a focus on healthcare data security, AI system integration, and high-availability service architecture. 

This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for engineers who thrive in AI-driven healthcare environments and want to build the foundational infrastructure that enables intelligent automation in complex, mission-critical healthcare workflows.  

Your Responsibilities 

• Design and implement backend services using Node.js, TypeScript and OpenAPI specifications, following modern API-first principles.   

• Build and maintain RESTful endpoints to support data workflows across UI, analytics, and AI systems.  

• Integrate data sources like Elasticsearch into clean, modular APIs.  

• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to define service contracts and data flows.   

• Ensure performance, observability, and fault tolerance across all backend services.  

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation in partnership with DevOps teams.  

• Write clean, testable code that follows best practices and enables fast iteration. 

Required Skills & Experience 

• 5+ years of professional experience building back-end services with Node.js.  

• Strong understanding of OpenAPI specifications, RESTful API design, and microservice principles.  

• Experience with NoSQL document datastores, such as Elasticsearch. 

• Familiarity with performance optimization, API caching, and scalable service design.  

• Experience working in cloud-native environments and contributing to CI/CD workflows.  

• Proficient in debugging distributed systems and building resilient architectures.  

• Comfortable collaborating in remote-first teams across time zones. 

Nice-to-Have 

• Experience building internal developer platforms or service-oriented infrastructure. 

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and tracing tools (e.g., Grafana, Datadog, Loki). 

• Exposure to API gateway tools, rate limiting, and auth layer integration (e.g., OAuth2).  

• Previous work in regulated or mission-critical industries (e.g., healthcare, finance). 

• Working knowledge of the agentic AI tooling landscape.
