Role Summary

The Alaska Airlines High School Internship program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to develop the skills and experience that are critical to any professional career while gaining hands-on experience and a good understanding of what it’s like to work for the operation of an airline.

Key Duties

  • Gain experience and insight into the operation of the Maintenance & Engineering division.
  • Participate in a variety of hands-on aviation-related experiences and activities, including but not limited to projects, tours, job shadows, trainings, workshops and more.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day functions of a dynamic work environment.
  • May assist with a variety of ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • Internships are open to students who have previously participated in or are currently participating in aviation classes or aviation experience through Bristol Bay Region Career & Technical Education (BBRCTE).
  • Must be a current high school junior.
  • Interest in aviation and the airline industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable and a team-player.
  • Able to commit to program timeline over 3 weeks during summer 2025.
  • Able to secure daily transportation to and from the Anchorage airport.
  • Must have parent or guardian permission to participate in the internship program.
  • Minimum age of 16 by June 1, 2025.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Starting Rate

USD $16.66/Hr.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air pay and benefits can vary by company, location, number of regularly scheduled hours worked, length of employment, and employment status.
