Staff Protocol Engineer, Interoperability

Ava Labs, a pioneering blockchain company led by Cornell computer scientists and Wall Street veterans, is seeking a Staff Protocol Engineer to develop novel interoperability solutions that connect Avalanche blockchain with external ecosystems. The team focuses on creating seamless and secure cross-chain communication protocols for Web3.

Skills

Strong knowledge of blockchain, consensus protocols, and distributed systems
Proficiency in Golang or C++, with Solidity as a valuable plus
Experience managing production systems with cloud deployments such as AWS or Azure
Understanding of fee structures, transaction formats, and consensus mechanisms
Technical team leadership experience

Responsibilities

Design, optimize, and implement novel cross-chain transfer and interoperability protocols
Contribute to core technical projects including Avalanche Interchain Messaging and Avalanche Bridges from planning through release
Engage with the open-source community to foster collaboration
Coordinate technical efforts across teams to create extensible, flexible solutions addressing future challenges
Support the Infrastructure team with new releases and production monitoring including on-call rotation
Provide input to the long-term technical roadmap of the organization

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
