Hardware Program Development Manager

Job OverviewThe Hardware Program Development Manager (PDM) is responsible for leading cross-functional teams toward the implementation of Avery Dennison hardware development projects, which include thermal barcode printers, RFID encoding devices, data gathering devices, and other identification solutions. The PDM will work closely with internal stakeholders such as Device Engineering, Product Line Management, Market Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Test Lab, Service, and Sales. Primary responsibilities include project planning and documentation, meeting facilitation, follow up and communication of project plans and status. The Program Development Manager is accountable for the overall delivery of the product plan and will work with various levels of the organization to ensure timelines are met, risks are mitigated, and the overall success and customer satisfaction of the project.Key Areas of Responsibility• Responsible for managing new product development projects utilizing a stage gate process for Avery Dennison Identification Solutions (IDS) hardware devices. Responsible for conducting stage gate reviews with stakeholders and receiving approval to proceed with the new development project.• Develops and delivers on project management plans by working globally and cross functionally to understand and document scope of work, schedule, project risks, and budget. Activities include but are not limited to developing work breakdown structures, managing qualitative and quantitative risks & risk analysis, resource planning, managing project financials and communicating on project status.• Understand the business’ strategic plans and AOP. Assuring new product development projects are aligned.• Partner with other functions of the business such as product management, engineering, quality, purchasing, & operations to successfully deliver new products on time on budget, and on scope.• Maintain open and honest communication amongst the team, form working relationships, and motivate those who may need it.• Oversee contracts with vendors and suppliers. Be the partner expert within the company and work with the procurement team in managing the partner relationship.• Solve issues that arise. Plan for changes in resource allocation, scope creep, schedule changes.• Leverage industry best practices to infuse process discipline, systems thinking, and use of tools such as Smartsheets to enhance the company’s capacity for effective project management.• Own the existing New Product Development Project Management processes, tools, and resources. Identify gaps and implement an improvement plan.• Manage multiple development projects and deal with changing priorities with a bias towards execution in a multicultural and virtual team environment.Key Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred in a relevant technical engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Firmware/Software).• 5-10 years of relevant professional experience in project management, new product development and deployment. Preferred experience with electro-mechanical devices.• Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)® is preferred.• Experience with project management tools, e.g. Smartsheets, and Google Workspace.• Excellent facilitation, customer service, relationship building and communication skills.• Strong leadership, analytical & organizational skills.• Confidence in interacting with / presenting to all levels in an organization. ● Good business acumen.• Propensity for identifying risks and issues proactively, making decisions with incomplete information and acting expediently.• To be successful in this position you are a confident team player, highly self-driven, and equipped with good collaboration skills. The ability to work under pressure and a continuous improvement solution-oriented mindset is required.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesIf applicable, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
