Head of CRES Workplace Product Management & Technical Services

Job Description

Purpose of the role

To manage and develop capital project proposals and operations aligned to the needs of the bank. 

Accountabilities

  • Management, development and execution of building, real estate and physical asset security projects and proposals, including workspace, engineering, and facility upgrades.
  • Management of planning, design, procurement, resourcing, reporting and construction processes to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Identification of potential risks and issues associated to capital projects and development of risk management strategies to mitigate them by monitoring risk exposure and taking corrective action.
  • Management of project budget for real estate and physical security projects by tracking expenses, forecasting costs and identifying cost saving opportunities.
  • Management of stakeholder relations including project sponsors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the facilities management team to align capital project operations with the bank's objectives.
  • Identification of opportunities to improve the delivery processes for capital projects and implement best practices to enhance project performance.
  • Execution of capital projects that meet agreed quality standards, and are compliant with relevant laws, regulation, and policies.

  • Lead and mentor high performing teams and embed a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects, act as a profound technical expert and thought leader, Identifying new and innovative/ground breaking ways of working. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.
  • Drive and achieve overall success and / or competitiveness of a business division by influencing senior leaders and committees.
  • Strategically assess and manage risks to protect the business division / function and growth.
  • Influence company policy and develop functional procedures in conjunction with senior leaders / strategic positions across the business.
  • Demonstrate interpretative thinking for innovative solutions in complex situations and conceptual thinking in completely new situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant / complex business and strategic decisions that impact the Barclays Group, business division or function.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally and foster growth for Barclays business.
  • Mandated as the business division/ functional spokesperson or representative to external bodies and shapes the public image of Barclays.
  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of how business divisions and functions integrate with the Group to achieve the overall business objectives alongside industry theories and practices within own discipline.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive functional expertise and significant product knowledge.
  • Accountable for the control and governance agenda of the business division / function.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays.

  • Become part of Barclays Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES) team as Head of CRES Workplace Product Management & Technical Services.  In this important role, you will be part of the CRES Team delivering some of our largest and most complex projects in our global portfolio.  We have an exciting book of work that’s includes the rebuild of Barclays US headquarters at 745 7th Avenue, a continued refurbishment of our UK headquarters at One Churchill Place in London as well as several other major projects. 
  • This leadership role will stand up a new team of project professionals and consultants that will ensure an effective and innovative approach to delivering state of the art, inspiring and resilient workspaces that reflect Barclay’s brand and ambitions. 
  • Lead a new global program management team that is responsible for the successful delivery of complex technical requirements for real estate, technology and security requirements within real estate projects. 
  • Leverage deep knowledge of the technical and practical requirements of large real estate programs that have interdependencies on multiple technology and security products, services and consultants.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Engineering teams to develop strategies for innovation and transformation that enable world-class workspaces and colleague experiences. 
  • Deliver a program management methodology to standardize and execute well integrated project plans, incorporating technical requirements, resource allocation and dependencies to ensure on-time delivery of CRES projects. 
  • Continuously identify opportunities to optimize the relationship between physical real estate, technology, security and shared infrastructure scopes through proactive engagement, transformation workstreams and communication. 
  • Engage engineers and industry experts to maintain awareness as to emerging trends and provide appropriate check and challenge as to status quo. 
  • Drive strategies that optimize the performance of workplaces through consistency in delivery and tech enablement. 
  • Work closely with product owners and engineers to develop holistic real estate dependent technical programs and budgets; works closely with partners in CIO, GTIS and CSO to develop program briefs, schedules and budgets that address user requirements and timing of key decisions on infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, DAS, in-building cellular, Wi-Fi, IOT, AV/multi-media, workplace tech, security technology and access control. 
  • Partners with Head of CRES Design to develop strategies that support holistic colleague experience, leveraging user journeys, informs transformation agenda and reflects consultation with respective product owners, industry partners and colleagues. 
  • Drives cross-product transformation and digitization programs that include complex automation, on-site support strategies and multi-channel support experiences across CRES, CSO and GTIS, ie ServiceNow, Tech Bar, Concierge Services.
  • Works closely with Head of Sourcing and Category managers to ensure project sourcing strategies and plans align to project scope, schedules and ambitions.  Support a One Barclays strategy with the business and key stakeholders. 
  • Evangelizes a digital first strategy across CRES and their partners, communicating importance and opportunities and relationships between physical design and the collaboration, media and digitization.
