About the Role

Baton is seeking an innovative and data-driven Head of Growth to lead the charge in scaling both sides of our marketplace—business buyers and sellers. You will own shaping Baton’s growth startegy, building a robust acquisition engine, and driving engagement, retention and upgrades throughout the funnel.

This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract and engage small business owners considering selling their businesses. You will establish growth frameworks, uncover data-driven insights, and lead user acquisition efforts. As a senior leader, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, design, and sales teams to achieve business objectives.

On a Day-to-Day Basis You Will

  • Develop and execute a growth strategy aligned with Baton’s mission and objectives.

  • Use data insights to identify friction points, implement improvements, and test changes to optimize the onboarding process and create an engaging early user journey driving to retention and upgrades.

  • Build and scale new customer acquisition channels including paid media, content, partnerships, and more.

  • Define KPIs, build dashboards, and analyze performance to guide decision-making and optimize ROI on growth initiatives.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing growth team, fostering innovation, experimentation, and accountability.

  • Launch impactful campaigns, partnerships, and products with precision and impact, iterating based on results.

  • Work closely with marketing, sales, product, and customer success teams to align efforts and achieve shared goals.

About You

  • Demonstrated Success: Proven track record in a senior growth role at a high-growth, successful startup.

  • Product Experience: Deep understanding of how to manage product and engineering teams to influence the development of features that enhance user engagement, streamline onboarding, and drive retention.

  • Data Driven: Adept at conducting large-scale, precise data analysis and using insights to drive acquisition and product improvements; Python/SQL experience highly preferred.

  • Growth Marketer: Experience running new customer acquisition and performance marketing campaigns including but not limited to SEM, partnerships, SEO, referral programs, and cold outbound.

  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business fundamentals and a conceptual understanding of small business acquisition process, enabling you to effectively advocate for strategic decisions and drive meaningful outcomes.

  • Marketplace Expertise: Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics and how to grow both sides of the ecosystem.

  • Brand Building: Proven experience in driving brand growth and enhancing brand equity, with a strategic focus on scaling and sustainable expansion.

  • Team Builder: Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
