Family Engagement Coordinator

Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to become the Francis Scott Key Elementary Family Engagement Coordinator to oversee family engagement and relations during the afterschool program. All family engagement programs take place Monday through Friday at FSK. BACR's goal is to foster clear lines of communication and engagement opportunities between families and our After School Program.

Anticipated start date: January 2025

Benefits:

  • Pay rate: $26/hour (based on experience)
  • 16 paid BACR holidays
  • Full Time: 40 hours per week

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 2 years college (minimal 48 college unitsˊ with 2 years related experience
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse district/school staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Must have a working ability with computers (composing email, scanning, Microsoft officeˊ, Zoom and GSuite (GMail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, and Google Meets.
  • Must be able to adapt to change and learn new skills
  • Must be confident speaking in public settings for students and parents
  • Experience working in youth programs
  • Experience working in a school and/or non-profit setting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin/Cantonese OR Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop responsive, culturally appropriate, and engaging family programming that meets the needs and interests of the FSK community.
  • Build relationships with FSK stakeholders (school administration, parents and staff to further engage them in the success of the program. Duties include: attending PTA meetings, participating in family tours and incoming family orientations.
  • Manage resource desk during program hours, providing families with BACR program information and student locations. Providing general first aid as needed.
  • Managing family emails which include: questions, concerns, early - pickups and absences. Communicate attendance changes and/or other student injuries, etc. to the corresponding program staff and Site Coordinator.
  • Update ASPL's bulletin board and send out monthly Family Newsletters and manage parent slide deck to keep families informed of all program updates.
  • Plan and host family engagement events such as: workshops, semester showcases and 2-3 family nights to give our families the opportunity to connect and see what we work on in our program, using data from surveys provided 3 times per year.
  • Completion of administrative duties.
  • Support classrooms, assistant site coordinator and coordinator as needed.
  • Communicate participant concerns, class needs, or site issues to the Site Coordinator.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings as needed for family events
