JOB TITLE: Senior Program Manager, College Access 

REPORTS TO: Director, College & Career Success

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt  

WORK LOCATION: New York, NY  

HYBRID SCHEDULE: This role requires 2 in-office days per week at our NYC office.

JOB SUMMARY:  

BBBS of NYC seeks a full-time Senior Program Manager, College Access. Reporting directly to the Director, College & Career Success, this person will play an essential role in deepening the organization’s college access efforts and college planning culture for our youth. This individual must have availability to work some evenings and weekends and attend weekly meetings with the Director, College & Career Success to advance the department’s strategic priorities and establish a comprehensive college access program. 


 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Program Development & Case Management 

  • Create a college application road map for juniors and seniors. 
  • Create a college counseling curriculum for community-based programming. 
  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions for high school juniors and seniors on the college application and college decision process. 
  • Analyze seniors' financial aid packages and offer support as needed. 
  • Lead the recruitment and enrollment of the incoming College & Career Success Program (CCS) freshmen class, including facilitating information sessions and conducting enrollment meetings with all incoming scholars.  
  • Support CCS department in matching incoming freshman scholars with a mentor for the CCS Program  
  • Email communications with students, parents, mentors, and program managers. 
  • Maintain accurate and consistent case notes for caseload in the database. 

Workshop & Event Facilitation 

  • Co-facilitate College Access workshops for site-based programming. 
  • Plan and conduct a series of College Access workshops for high school juniors, seniors, mentors, and families throughout the academic year. 
  • Coordinate and recruit college admission representatives for virtual College Knowledge Rep Visit Series for juniors. 
  • Organize and host College Decision Day and the annual Spring College Fair. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Serve as college access subject matter expert, further integrating college access into overall organizational mission and culture. 
  • Train Program Managers on the college application road map. 
  • Collect and distribute college access resources from the CACNY listserv and other outlets; attend the monthly CACNY Membership Meetings. 
  • Develop an active presence of BBBS of NYC within the College Access/Persistence Community within NYC. 
  • Identify and secure 1-2 summer interns for the College & Career Success Program. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3-5 years experience in college counseling required; bachelor's degree in counseling, higher education, or related field strongly preferred.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in college access, including postsecondary planning, the college application process, FAFSA/financial aid, scholarship resources, and opportunity programs. 
  • Experience working with students from all backgrounds, especially first-generation students. 
  • Experience working with community-based organizations strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with creating and facilitating and college access workshops. 
  • Commitment to BBBS of NYC’s mission, vision, and values.  
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability required.  


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: 

  • Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
