Job Description

Position Summary

The Design Engineer II will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering Department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate with design, laboratory technicians, purchasing, sales, manufacturing, and assembly teams on design projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Assist in the development and testing of new products
  •  Solve design problems; adapt, alter, and/or improve existing products
  •  Interpret design input  via CAD using PTC Creo and translate into design of custom hydraulic manifold housings or valves, and develop detailed drawings for the product
  • Collaborate with testing, purchasing and manufacturing teams on design projects
  • Lead design reviews for specific projects involving various departments
  • Write technical reports after analyzing and interpreting data from various test sources
  •  Drive continuous efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day activities
  •  Follow through on projects from start to serial production
  • Use analysis software including ANSYS, Fluent, Maxwell, MATLAB, and HYSAN
  • Use documentation software including Q-Pulse and PDMLink (managing ECRs, ECNs & PECNs)
  •  Support the organization with sharing and implementing best practices across all locations
  •  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Lift and move a minimum of 5 pounds without assistance

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely takes place in a standard office setting, but occasionally the role can be exposed to a variety of potentially hazardous conditions. Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field or relevant experience in lieu
  •  3+ years’ work experience.
  • CAD proficiency with PTC Creo
  • Hydraulic manifold design or complex layout design
  •  Intermediate understanding of manufacturing processes
  •  Firm understanding of drafting practices; working knowledge of geometric tolerance practic
  •  Intermediate understanding of valve types and functions; valve symbols and valve port logic
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve
  •  Accurate and detail oriented, with the ability to follow through on tasks and objectives
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team
  • Intermediate technical writing ability to provide in depth conclusions regarding test data • Ability to work on and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels throughout the organization 

Additional Information

Benefits:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000-$100,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range during the interview process. In addition to your base salary, HydraForce offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision plans; health savings accounts (HSA); flexible spending accounts; 401(K) retirement plan with employer match; wellness programs; life insurance; short and long term disability insurance; paid time off; and reimbursement of education expenses. Pay ranges included in the postings generally reflect base salary; certain positions may include bonus, commission, or additional benefits.
