Job Description

Boston Engineering, an innovative product development engineering company, seeks a mixed-signal Sr. Electrical Engineer focusing on power electronics and associated controls. In this role, you will: 

  • Develop Electrical system architectures 
  • Perform Power electronics design of switching mode power systems from watts to tens of kilowatts and beyond 
  • Design, build, and debug embedded and mixed-signal electronics 
  • Develop solutions from the specification phase through the final delivery and acceptance testing  
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to realize electro-mechanical designs  
  • Perform simulation and breadboard tests to establish design validity 
  • Build test fixtures and write test scripts for systems 
  • Lead debugging of electro-mechanical systems 
  • Understand & practice the job role within our quality management system as trained

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

  • Five or more years of experience in fast-paced, electronics-orientated product development 
  • A minimum of a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering 
  • Mastery of high current, moderate voltage designs that combine PCBs, buss bars, and cabling 
  • Inverter and microgrid (connected and disconnected) design experience 
  • Eligibility for ITAR and defense contract work. (US Person) 
  • Hands-on, in the lab and field experience with hardware 
  • Experience with ECAD tools for the design of PCBs (Altium Designer a plus) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in MS Office 
  • Experience integrating and debugging power electronics and embedded systems. 
  • Experience outsourcing build and test to third parties for PCAs, Panels, cables, and systems 

Desired Capabilities: 

  • Working knowledge of software, familiarity with C/C++, python, and/or ROS platforms 
  • Ability to succeed in a challenging technical and customer-focused environment 
  • Ability to approach designs from a system perspective 
  • Understanding of electro-mechanical systems and strong system-level debugging skills
