Incident Problem Management (IPM) Intern, Infrustructure (NCS) - BCIT

SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $28.30 HOURLY

BACKGROUND CHECK

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed. 

PROBATION

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Position focuses on creating and managing automations/integrations and applying data analytics/management to provide data transparency into significant-impact IT issues within the organization for historical trending and forecasting, and to automate applicable manual IT tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Population of information in a usable data model and data management within data repositories
• Automating low level runbook processes through coding and establishing software integrations
• Coordinating meetings and presenting to Executive and/or IT stakeholders
• Development of back-end IT incident processing and data management automations (eg. tools/languages such as Node Red, Python, JSON, REST APIs, SQL, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Currently attend a Maryland high school as a junior/senior
• Currently attend a Maryland higher education institution
• Graduated from a Maryland high school, but currently attend a non-Maryland higher education institution
• Graduated from a Maryland high school, and is currently enrolled or graduated from a career technical training program
• Available to work a minimum of 20 per week
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Basic understanding of programming languages and development concepts

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Introductory knowledge of IT infrastructure and IT applications - Introductory development experience in IT automations
• Introductory problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Introductory programming (coding) skills
