Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Community Memorial Hospital

Part-Time; Monday – 1030-1730, Tuesday – 1000-1730, and Thursday – 1030-1730.

 

The Laboratory Scientist position is responsible for performing waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests and analyses in the hematology, special chemistry, chemistry and microbiology departments in the laboratory.  The Laboratory Scientist collects and processes patient specimens within the laboratory and is responsible for quality control and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing
  • Analyze hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology
  • Provide information for diagnosis and treatment of disease
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment and be familiar with federal requirements in regard to quality control, Medicare compliance, HIPAA

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree

  • Board registered as a medical laboratory technician with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (NCA, ASCP, etc.)

  • ASCP or equivalent certification required to work in Iowa.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Must be able to Read, Write and Speak English.
