Principal Software Engineer

Cloudflare is a leader in internet security and performance, operating a massive global network to protect and accelerate millions of internet properties. They seek a Principal Software Engineer with deep experience in distributed systems to drive product innovation and reliability within their Emerging Technologies & Incubation division.

Skills

Expertise in distributed systems architecture and management.
Proficiency with at least one modern strongly-typed programming language (Go, TypeScript, Rust).
Strong debugging, optimization, and failure mode analysis skills in large-scale systems.
Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Experience with low-latency real-time environments and non-garbage collected languages.

Responsibilities

Drive the reliability and performance of the R2 Storage distributed object storage system.
Develop new features and functionality across all layers of the software stack.
Write design documents and implement solutions from inception through release.
Collaborate with a high-performing engineering team using multiple languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, and C++.
Maintain and optimize a large-scale distributed system with high volume traffic.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
