Organ Research Assistant/Intern

About The Role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our whole organ preservation team on either a full-time or part-time basis. As Research Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting scientific progress of our research program. The primary focus of this role is performing organ perfusion protocols and supporting experimental operations, with an emphasis on organ isolation, preservation, and viability evaluation.

As our laboratory operations progress, you will have the opportunity to engage with a growing variety of scientific methods inspired by first principles of biology, physics, and chemistry. Creative scientific engagement is encouraged, and new avenues for discovery and optimization are continuously supported.

Responsibilities

Perform rat and pig organ isolation and ex-vivo evaluation protocols, including perfusion and histology
Support experimental needs, including solution preparation, sample processing, perfusion monitoring, and experimental execution
Work within scientific team to evaluate health of organs following cryopreservation
Prepare equipment and supplies for experiments, including ordering and device maintenance
Ensure accurate sample processing and on-time data reporting

Qualifications

You’ve completed or are completing an undergraduate degree in a STEM related field.
You have 1+ years experience performing demanding laboratory procedures.
You have demonstrated a passion for rapid problem solving and exploration of novel topics / protocols.
Desire to work in a laboratory setting.
You demonstrate agency, problem solving, passion for discovery, and a drive to push the boundaries of science through meaningful involvement in an ambitious project.
