Job Description

DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking highly motivated Herbicide Applicator Technicians responsible for spraying right aways, roadsides, removing weeds, trimming, and cutting grass and brush. This is accomplished with a spray truck, an ATV, a backpack sprayer, or by dragging a hose. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS:

  • Spray applications on guardrail, utility poles, customer storage areas, concrete, and curbs. 
  • Additional duties may include driving an attenuator truck. 
  • Perform equipment/vehicle inspections (responsible for truck/spray system).
  • Treatment and control of complete weed, grass, and brush in various commercial/industrial sites of nuisance, as well as invasive plants and vegetation on customer identified areas. 
  • Have all proper paperwork, MSDS sheets, labels, etc.
  • Have all proper safety items, such as vests, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
  • Make sure all equipment is in working order, such as water suck pumps, chemical injection equipment, computers, etc., and minor repairs are made.
  • Be capable of calibrating all spray equipment.
  • Make sure all work is conducted in compliance with strict safety guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of weed, grass, and brush types.

TECHNICAL

  • Basic understanding of application methods and equipment (i.e., spray trucks, backpack sprayers, and ATV sprayers).
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and the public.
  • Understanding of outdoor working conditions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 21+ years of age or older.
  • Class B CDL Required.
  • A valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of clean driving is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed for up to 2-3 weeks at a time.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and motor vehicle record review.
  • Prior experience in the Vegetation Management field is an advantage, but not required.
  • A Commercial Pesticide Applicators License for Core and Rights of Way Vegetation Management is preferred, but not required for hire. This license will need to be obtained in the first six months of employment. 
  • Must be able to comply with Company Drug & Alcohol Policy.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
  • Ability to lift 60+ lbs.
  • Must comply with our PPE program while working with Industrial Herbicide Application techniques.

Pay rate: $18.00-25.00/ hour depending on experience.
