Research Scientist, Gemini Data

Google DeepMind is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join the Gemini Data team. The role involves developing innovative methods for creating and evaluating high-quality synthetic data used for training advanced language models, contributing to cutting-edge AI research with a focus on safety and ethics.

Skills

In-depth knowledge of LLM training and/or agents.
Strong background in machine learning research with publications in top conferences.
Software engineering skills relevant to machine learning implementations.
Familiarity with synthetic data generation, data quality, and data scaling techniques.

Responsibilities

Research and develop diversified high-quality synthetic data for Gemini core model training.
Scale data creation through collaborations and evaluate its effectiveness with pretraining, post-training, and distillation ablation studies.
Identify and address quality issues in the pretraining data corpus and improve data quality effectiveness.
Stay current with latest advancements in large language model (LLM) research.

Education

PhD in Computer Science or related field.
