Junior Graphic Designer

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the campaign committee responsible for electing and supporting Democratic Governors, is seeking to fill the Junior Graphic Designer role within the Digital Department. The position will report to the Design Manager.

 

The Digital Content and Creative Department is responsible for creating digital content in support of Democratic Governors and Democratic gubernatorial campaigns, and coordinates with campaigns to enhance their digital communications while also providing support to other departments within DGA.

 

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 annually before benefits and applicable withholdings, but salary is commensurate with experience. Candidates who are comfortable handling the following responsibilities and have the appropriate skillset at the entry level are encouraged to apply.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Create social media graphics, signage, merch, email graphics, and animations in a timely manner for the digital team and cross-departmentally;
  • Work closely with the Creative Director, the Deputy Creative Director, and the Design Manager on the overall look and feel of the DGA’s design aesthetic;
  • Assist in designing DGA’s internal and external branded materials, including memos, presentations, and decks;
  • Develop and maintain design systems and guidelines, ensuring consistency across digital and physical touchpoints;
  • Brainstorm creative concepts and ideas alongside the broader creative team;
  • Communicate effectively and frequently with team members on current projects and design performance;
  • Support other special projects, assignments, and tasks in collaboration with others on the DGA digital team. 


Minimum Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of design experience;
  • Expertise in the full Adobe Creative Suite - especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign;
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and meet varying design deadlines; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization while in a fast-paced environment, including clear external and internal file management;
  • Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines;
  • Comfort with long, irregular hours during peak election seasons, including some evenings and weekends;
  • Demonstrated interest in politics; passion and commitment to advancing the principles and goals of the nation’s Democratic governors.

  • Experience using Adobe AfterEffects

Closing

This role is based in downtown Washington, DC with a hybrid work protocol. If you’re selected for this role, you’ll be required to be in office 2-3 days a week, and when in-office filming opportunities arise.
