As the Founding Student Counselor at Des Moines Prep, you will be stepping into a vital role at a brand-new public charter high school scheduled to open its doors in August 2025. Your mission? To foster a culture of excellence and joy for our inaugural class of ninth-grade students. Reporting directly to the Dean of Culture and Principal, you'll be at the forefront of providing social-emotional support to students and establishing lasting relationships. You'll be involved in designing and implementing impactful advisory programming that instills strong leadership and communication skills among students. This position is all about creating a safe and nurturing environment, where high expectations meet real support for each student's journey. Your work will include proactively addressing challenges, celebrating student successes alongside families, and ensuring every student has access to the resources they need to thrive. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just have the credentials – offering three years or more of school counseling experience – but who is also truly passionate about student well-being. With your understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in schools, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to build trust within the school community, you’ll help shape the foundational experiences of our students at Des Moines Prep. Are you ready to make an impact and help build a supportive culture from the ground up?
