Job Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced Database developer to oversee the design, security, and maintenance of enterprise databases that support high-volume, high-value business operations. You will lead efforts to ensure accurate, timely, and secure data flow across systems and support business intelligence initiatives through the development of robust data pipelines, models, and reporting layers.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business users, stakeholders, and prospects to understand use cases and translate them into actionable data integration workflows.
- Analyze and document data flows, design ETL processes, and map source-to-target data relationships.
- Partner with Data Architects to define optimal data models for ingestion and collaborate with BI developers to support reporting needs.
- Enable and mentor team members working on-premises or in cloud environments by sharing technical expertise.
- Design and manage database structures including tables, indexes, and views, while ensuring robust database security.
- Work with data stewards and domain experts to enforce best practices in data quality, testing, and reporting.
- Enhance data warehouse performance through batch processing optimization and tuning strategies.
- Implement metadata governance processes with Data Architects to ensure consistency and accuracy across BI tools.
- Establish and execute data quality checks, automated validations, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Manage routine and ad hoc deployments, releases, and scheduled data process checks.
- Utilize version control tools (e.g., GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines to ensure clean, trackable development workflows.
- Provide after-hours on-call support as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence environments.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced T-SQL development.
- At least 5 years of experience using SSIS and working with stored procedures.
- 2+ years of experience building dashboards and reports with Power BI.
- Proven ability to integrate and consolidate data from multiple internal and external sources into a centralized data warehouse.
- Solid knowledge of data modeling techniques (conceptual, logical, and physical), with experience in ODS, EDW, and Data Marts.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and advanced SQL programming.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- In-depth understanding of data warehouse design principles and industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Preferred/Good to Have
- 1–2 years of experience with Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly Azure SQL Data Warehouse).
- Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, SQL VMs, Data Lake, and building cloud-based ETL pipelines.
