Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Developer / Systems Analyst to support a key initiative within the organization. The ideal candidate will document critical business functions, evaluate and improve operational workflows, assist in process redesigns, and contribute to software development and testing. This position will primarily focus on maintaining and enhancing applications that support complex financial business processes within large-scale, cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and lead developer on enterprise-level applications related to financial systems.
  • Analyze existing systems and business functions to identify efficiency and redesign opportunities.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for application development from planning to production.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define and implement scalable solutions.
  • Mentor junior developers and guide the QA team through code testing, integration, and deployment.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues using proven diagnostic tools and team collaboration.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to system architecture, coding standards, and methodology.
  • Stay current with technology trends and apply best practices to new and existing development efforts.
  • Support enterprise initiatives by contributing technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
  • Estimate resources and project requirements for planning and budgeting purposes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience as a lead developer or development team manager.
  • At least 5 years of experience with legacy and modern development technologies such as COBOL, CA Gen, Classic ASP, DB2 for z/OS, or Oracle.
  • Proficient in designing and maintaining financial or other complex business process systems.
  • Experience working with CA Gen toolsets for web, batch, and online processing.
  • Knowledge of CA Gen Com Proxy and COBOL integration.
  • Familiar with web development using Classic ASP, including VBScript and JScript.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS systems, CICS, JCL, and COBOL programming.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Visual Studio/.NET development environments.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write and troubleshoot advanced queries.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong understanding of relational databases including DB2 z/OS or Oracle.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and enhance data processing pipelines and integration logic.
  • Solid communication skills—written and verbal—with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Capable of leading and motivating teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of SDLC best practices, including release and version control.
