Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to supporting the team in applying mathematical models, advanced tools or techniques (such as SQL, SAS, Python), and financial industry knowledge to business or financial data, including model results. Your efforts will enable the team to analyze or report on business performance, solve business questions, or inform business decisions. Work may include developing models or prototypes to achieve these goals, but is not the core focus in the role.

The Corporate Finance - Financial Engineering - Senior Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on processing, query, data mine or analyze large amounts of data efficiently using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques. Determine customer's intended uses for a financial analysis or model.
  • Conduct financial analysis or forecasting, which may include scenario or sensitivity analysis, stress testing, or attribution analysis.
  • Execute models and/or interpret model results. Translate the results from the analysis or models for the customer into understandable conclusions.
  • Work directly with model builders to vet new models, suggest changes to existing models, or analyze model performance data.
  • Perform data and systems analysis, validation, and regression testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 2 years
  • Experience with relational databases like AWS Redshift and working with large data sets.
  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data integration and ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct analysis independently, to address complex business problems / issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in providing insights and/or explaining complex analysis to stakeholders.

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Ability to leverage internal tools including Tableau and AWS Redshift to deliver reporting
  • Applying strong data architecture principles and intuitive data visualization design
  • Experience with the Agile software development framework 
  • Experience with Forecasting tool like Anaplan

At times, business need may call for on-site collaboration, which means proximity within a reasonable commute to your designated office location is preferred unless job is noted as open to remote.

The hiring range for this role is set forth on each of our job postings located on Fannie Mae's Career Site. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications. This position is eligible to participate in a Fannie Mae incentive program (subject to the terms of the program).
