Job Description

We are seeking 3 x Mobilisation and Operation Managers based on a 12-month fixed term contract, that will play a key part in the delivery of our Newborns Programme research study across several NHS Trusts across England.

As a Mobilisation and Operations Manager, you will support the recruitment of site selection and set-up, readiness, monitoring and study coordination whilst establishing new relationships with the NHS Trusts and collaborating with the Newborns Programme Team and other key stakeholders, helping to implement our mobilisation plan and support ongoing recruitment efforts for the research study.

Everyday responsibilities include:

With support from the Mobilisation and Performance Leads, the role holder will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with key roles in the Genomics Medicine Service Alliances to identify and set up NHS Trust sites for the study and ensure smooth handover processes.
  • Supporting implementation of amendments, research and development (R&D) submissions, and study documentation planning, particularly by involving input from recruitment sites.
  • Establishing relationships with key stakeholders such as midwives, nurses, clinicians, research teams, and other clinical research staff to gain their support and ensure their expertise informs the research study.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for staff at local sites, maintaining contact databases, issuing regular communications, and coordinating meetings.
  • Managing readiness frameworks and reporting on individual site setup, providing direct support to ensure timely initiation and recruitment according to targets.
  • Supporting local implementation of various workstreams, including staff education and training, site initiation packs, consent procedures, sample taking and tracking, ordering of supplies and logistics, processing quotes and invoices, performance monitoring, and issue resolution, as well as results and follow-on care pathways.
  • Assisting the in-house ethics teams in progressing contracts, local capacity and capability, and other required agreements with chosen sites and partners, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Attending regular meetings with sites to review study delivery in the local context, identify constraints, and propose changes to operational delivery, standard operating procedures (SOPs) or use of study materials as needed.
  • Knowing and understanding the meaning behind Genomics England’s virtues and leadership behaviours and embody them in all aspects of your role.

Skills and Experience for Success:

The ideal candidate will have strong presentation and group facilitation skills, particularly in working with external stakeholders. They will demonstrate effective stakeholder management, clear and confident communication, keen attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.

A collaborative mindset and comfort working as part of a larger team are essential.

Preferred skills include prior experience working within health research or clinical trials, particularly in an NHS setting.
