Data Platform Developer (Java)

Geotab is a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, offering innovative big data and telematics solutions. We are seeking a Data Platform Developer skilled in Java and distributed systems to develop and maintain cutting-edge machine learning data platforms on Google Cloud, supporting real-time and batch data processing to enhance fleet management and analytics capabilities.

Skills

Proficient in Java development with Spring framework.
Experience with API design and implementation.
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
Understanding of data management and storage principles.
Familiarity with batch and streaming data architectures.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain data infrastructure platforms managing ingestion, digestion, orchestration, and applications.
Optimize distributed systems for real-time and batch telematics data processing.
Enrich Geotab’s big data with telematics data at scale.
Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting for big data infrastructure health.
Collaborate with data scientists to develop infrastructure solutions supporting data processing needs.
Create and maintain architecture, requirements, and process flow documentation.
Support internal teams with data integration for big data platforms.

Education

Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
