JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an exceptional accounting professional to join our Finance Team as the BU Controller. This role offers the opportunity to lead financial operations for a dynamic, fast-paced business unit expected to grow into a combined $300M–$400M organization through integration of multiple bundled verticals, including cabinets, countertops, and related services. Ideal candidates will bring a passion for accounting, finance, and business partnership, and will serve as a strategic advisor to both operational and corporate leadership.
The BU Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management for their assigned business unit, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and project accounting where applicable. This role includes expanded oversight across multiple locations or brands within the business unit and requires strong leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills. The BU Controller will work cross-functionally with various teams across the organization and is expected to report into Corporate Accounting with a strong dotted line to the BU President.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
o Assess skills and talent, determine staffing needs, conduct regular people management activities e.g. performance evaluations.
o Manage Staff to include Accountants, Senior Accountants, AP, and AR team members
o Manage Accounts Payable, ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices while managing the cashflows of the business
o Manage Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely and accurate customer billing, collections and cash application
o Ensure proper and timely preparation and filling of various tax activities in various jurisdictions
o Monitor payroll, revenue, expenses, balance sheet and cash flow activity
o Oversee the preparation of all financial and non-financial reporting needed for successful management of the business
o Oversee the proper management of inventory through timely cycle counts, physical counts and recording of adjustments as they occur
o Prepare of journal entries ensuring proper segmentation of duties
o Analyze and record intercompany transactions ensuring accuracy and timeliness
o Prepare complete and accurate balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving variances in a timely manner
o Prepare timely bank accounts reconciliations and Analysis and generate cash forecasts to support the needs of the business
o To be the financial voice of reason coaching, mentoring, and educating in a financial lens all and any financial impacts of business decisions
o To be a good steward of data so to conduct good analytics in helping make timely and sounds business decisions
o To generate business forecasts and annual budgets using key business drivers to help better inform of trends needed to effectively manage the business to expectations
