  • Experience designing, constructing, and managing physical network infrastructure projects (i.e. creating drawing sets for builds and remodels of data centers).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Professional, Registered, or Chartered Engineer designation.
  • Experience in building construction management and working on evaluating data center telecom infrastructure and design of associated infrastructure.
  • Experience in creating fiber routing diagrams and build path records, capacity augment projects, and generating capacity plans and migrations based on the data.
  • Experience in project and change management of complex projects, and proven track record of making organizational change happen effectively and ensuring lasting benefits of change are achieved.

About the job:

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will initiate, design and manage physical infrastructure programs for Google’s large data center campuses. You will create designs, Scopes of Work (SOWs) and expenditure approval documents for ISP and OSP fiber cabling, conveyances, and electrical/cooling/space of data center networking rooms. You will manage project schedules, identify risks and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders. You will have an opportunity to leverage your infrastructure expertise to promote alignment across teams and complex work streams, identify innovative solutions, and drive process improvements leading to continuous capacity delivery.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with data center and network architecture groups to ensure all designs and implementations balance the current requirements and potential future generations of networking technology as well as enable effective deployment and ongoing operations of the infrastructure.
  • Evaluate alternatives and develop cost estimates for project-specific feasibility studies. Create standards and templates to streamline build processes, and create design and SOW documents for network infrastructure and optical cabling for both ISP and OSP.
  • Prepare drawings, maps, scopes of work and other materials, as needed, to clearly describe projects to external vendors and internal stakeholders. Be the expert in campus fiber construction on a truly immense scale.
  • Communicate with partners along with internal business owners to collect drivers and deadlines for delivering network capacity.
