Asset Manager - Wholesale Electricity Resources

The Role

We are looking for an Asset Manager to help drive Gridmatic’s initiative of decarbonizing the electricity system. You’d be working with our customers who are owners of grid-scale energy resources, with a focus on battery storage, to ensure that resources are performing as expected and customer needs are addressed. This person should be detail oriented with a history of accountability as you’ll be a trusted resource for customers that rely upon Gridmatic for scheduling coordinator services, whereby we help their projects to participate successfully in wholesale electricity markets.


What you might work on
  • Responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of contracted energy resources in the US, and will be the external face of Gridmatic to our clients that own these resources.
  • Work with the engineering team to define and implement complex billing and reporting logic and interface with customers regarding billing and reporting questions or system performance.
  • Define requirements to help us build the solutions needed to serve new types of customers.
  • Interface with various internal & external teams to ensure a smooth transition of projects from commissioning to commercial operation.
  • Serve as an electricity market subject matter expert to guide customers through the resource commissioning process, including interfacing with the ISOs.
  • Manage commercial issues in collaboration with legal; coordinate and conduct negotiations to resolve issues with counterparties.
  • Review various agreements to ensure ongoing compliance and performance requirements are met.


You might be a good fit if you have:
  • 3+ years of experience in the wholesale electricity industry, preferably in a commercial role
  • Experience in negotiating and resolving complex issues through strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business, accounting, or similar field
  • An interest in the operations of innovative energy solutions including battery storage, renewables, and flexible load resources.


Not required, but would be great if you also had:
  • Knowledge of market rules, regulations, and compliance requirements in ERCOT and other US ISOs
  • Experience with grid scale battery storage
  • Experience with demand response participation in wholesale markets
  • Basic working knowledge of Python


$120,000 - $190,000 a year

What’s your policy on remote work?

We value the ability to work and collaborate in-person in our early stage as a startup, so Gridmatic has a hybrid policy of "50% in-office”. Most of the company works in our Cupertino office 2 or 3 days a week.


How does the interview process work?

We start with 1-2 initial conversations about the role, your past experience, and Gridmatic as a company. We then have a skills assessment; if that goes well, you’d come onsite to Cupertino to talk to the team.
