Back-end Developer and DevOps Software Engineer III

Horace Mann, a publicly traded company dedicated to serving educators with insurance and financial products, is seeking an experienced Back-end Developer and DevOps Software Engineer III to enhance their Software Development Practice. The role focuses on backend development and advancing DevOps practices within a collaborative team environment.

Skills

Proficiency with Azure DevOps pipelines, artifact management, and releases.
Experience with REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and enterprise integration patterns.
Strong knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell.
Git version control workflows expertise.
Cloud computing experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure.
Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain YAML-based CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Automate deployment, configuration management, and monitoring workflows.
Integrate security practices into DevOps pipelines to ensure compliance.
Develop and manage infrastructure as code for AWS, Azure, and on-premises.
Lead code reviews, design decisions, and mentor junior engineers.
Build and maintain enterprise services using .NET/C# and cloud platforms.
Implement authentication protocols like OAuth and SAML.
Develop PowerShell and Bash scripts to support automation.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across environments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
