Energy Optimization Intern
Project Name: Peanuts Project Optimization
Project Duration: 3 months
Paid Internship: The pay rate for this internship is commensurate with the candidate's years of schooling and major. The pay scale is between $15 - and $26 per hour.
Requirements:
Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering degree preferred
Coursework Prerequisites: Preference for an intern who has progressed to later stages (degree-specific) portion of their program. Example coursework: thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, basic electrical / electronics.
Location: Andersonville, GA with some visits to Roswell, GA
PROJECT SCOPE:
Support the implementation of equipment and procedural upgrades to improve the reliability and performance.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & DELIVERABLES:
As a member of the Optimization Project team, the successful candidate will support the:
Implementation of a comprehensive oil analysis program to detect lubrication or other issues with the mills,
Upgrade of mill lubrication systems (physical equipment and controls), including specification of a common system design across multiple sites,
Identification and documentation of instrumentation maintenance best practices for devices that detect key operating parameters of the mills.
The successful candidate will work with Imerys professionals in the project management, maintenance and reliability, and automation functions in order to effectively implement the above.
PROJECT LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Following the internship, the successful candidate will be able to apply their skills and knowledge to solve practical operational issues encountered in mineral processing and other heavy industries.
They will:
Understand the functionality and key attributes of critical mineral processing equipment (what the equipment does and how)
Understand common issues that can cause the equipment to not function properly (what can go wrong)
Identify and implement improvements to prevent the issues from occurring
Be able to work within a multi-function team to effectively address major equipment issues
