Job Description

Are you eager to step into your first role in Publishing or step back into it after time away following a different path? Are you someone who is very process driven but also loves working with people and offering great service? Then come and join Taylor & Francis Group within our Books Production Editorial department in this part time Production Editor role!

As a Production Editor you will oversee the production of new titles from receipt of the author’s un-copyedited typescript through to delivery of the final product, ensuring new books meet our quality requirements.

Closing Date: Applications will close on Monday 21st April 2025.

Expected Start Date: We are expecting the new joiner to be starting in this role on Monday 26th May 2025.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Handling incoming queries from authors and editors
  • Maintaining up-to-date information on our database
  • Quality control of final content  
  • Controlling schedules 
  • Assessing and coding invoices for prompt supplier payment 
  • Liaising with authors if required, and providing necessary support 
  • Completing multiple tasks to deadlines within a process driven environment

Please note that full training will be provided.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Be accustomed to prioritising and working to deadlines, be organised, and be able to multi-task
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify errors
  • Understand the importance of maintaining information relied on by others, ideally through experience of using a database
  • Be able to manage expectations so that we deliver to everyone's satisfaction
  • Have the ability to problem-solve
  • Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have the ability to build rapport with people and offer first class customer service as well as be very process-driven
  • Adapt well to change and not be daunted by changing priorities
  • Have basic skills in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Reader, and have an aptitude and enthusiasm for working with new technology

Additional Information

Location: 

  • This role is based in the UK, and you must have the right to work and live in the UK.
  • This role is offered on a part time basis (21 hours per week across 3 days) and is for a contract period of 5 months (maternity cover). We offer a truly balanced working model with the successful candidate using our Milton Park (Oxfordshire) location as their office hub with the rest of the time working from home.
