Grammar and Mechanics Editor (Freelance)

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an expert in the English language and linguistics to review K–8 grammar and mechanics materials for accuracy and clarity.

This is a 1099 consulting role that is remote for 3 months with possible extension. #LI-REMOTE

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Review K–8 grammar and mechanics materials for accuracy and clarity
  • Ensure that grammatical terminology is defined and used correctly
  • Ensure that practice exercises demonstrate the concept accurately and appropriately for the given grade level, suggesting revisions as needed
  • Advise team members on grammar and mechanics questions

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BA/BS degree
  • Impeccable knowledge of English grammar and structure; for example, you know what a dangling participle is and would love to explain it to someone!
  • Experience teaching traditional English grammar and syntax, including sentence types, clauses, structural rules, and mechanics
  • Copy editing experience
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of K–12 students’ reading and knowledge levels
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
