This 10 week paid Summer Internship Program has been developed for students to gain practical training and hands-on experience that will help them meet their educational goals and prepare them for their professional careers in real estate. When creating our Program, we carefully assessed what made an internship experience meaningful. Our goal is to provide you with a dynamic and engaging learning experience, and the opportunity to develop while having dedicated support around you. 

Important Reminders: 

  • Our 10-week program begins June 2, 2025, and ends August 8, 2025. 
  • We encourage students who are graduating in May/June 2026 to apply. 
  • This a full-time role based in our New York City office. 

 
Your Role 

Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) is looking to hire a summer intern to join our Legal team’s Risk Management department. This position is in New York City, and you will report to our Director of Risk Management. 

Students from universities who have dedicated Risk Management programs are highly preferred (e.g., St. John’s University, Pace University, University of Georgia, Temple University, Georgia State University, Saint Joseph's University, etc.). 

You will be involved in every aspect of the insurance management of LAC, from the first round of deal pricing through claims management and resolution. You will get an inside look at how risk is priced, policies are bound, and claims are adjusted. You will also participate in meetings with brokers and underwriters.  

  • Assist with preparation of insurance renewal applications including E&O, D&O, Fiduciary Liability, Crime, Cyber Liability 
  • Participate in strategy setting sessions with broker for marketing and placement of insurance programs 
  • Review recently bound policies for property and casualty, compare to binders and create a quick reference guide to coverages and sub-limits 
  • Create a Total Cost of Risk Model to analyze insurance spend across the portfolio over the years along with carriers and including claims dollars spent 
  • Review certificates and endorsements from vendors/contractors 
  • Claims Administration involving incident intake, file maintenance, loss forecasting and claims resolution  
  • Complete first round pricing allocation model for review 

What We Are Looking For 

The ideal candidate will be majoring in Risk Management and Insurance or a similar program. This person will want to learn about real estate and/or construction and what risk factors drive these markets.
