Transcript Evaluator

Job Description:

LSUA is seeking applicants for a Transcript Evaluator.

This position is charged with being familiar with and understanding academic policies, curriculum, common course numbering, and the statewide articulation agreements.

  • Assists the Transfer Evaluator Coordinator with TES (Transfer Evaluation System) and transfer table duties. Request rulings for courses that are not currently in the transfer tables of other colleges and institutions from applicable department chairs.
  • Assists in the research and analyzing of course descriptions and transfer of credit policies to determine transfer of credit eligibility and performs data entry.
  • Keeps up to date with the U.S. Department of Education and the Louisiana Board of Regents and their initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in the evaluation and recording of credit for foreign and domestic college level transfer work, international baccalaureate, advanced placement, and college level exam placement score reports and military work.
  • Cross-trains within Registrar’s Office to fulfill office duties and ensure efficient operations; answers the telephone and responds to email inquiries; prints and mails documents, maintains filing, creates, or updates documents.
  • Provides assistance and information to students, general public, and departments regarding transferability of courses.
  • Evaluate, record, and process forms for student(s) either declaring or declining Academic Bankruptcy.
  • Verify the eligibility of students entering LSUA concerning academic bankruptcy, suspension, and probation. Enter such necessary notes as to ensure the accuracy of the transfer work that is evaluated.
  • Enter record notes such as academic bankruptcy, probation and scholastic drops from other institutions.
  • Verify eligibility of student to take departmental credit exam and issue form, "Petition for Credit Examination". Upon completion of credit exam, award credit accordingly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply FERPA (Family Educational Right to Privacy Act)
  • Assists the Registrar with other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least three years of work-related experience
  • Working knowledge of the following concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations: Must understand University policy and procedures, FERPA, and office policies.
  • Understanding of technology and analytical skills are required.
  • This is a service-oriented position and incumbent must be able to effectively communicate with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a transfer evaluator.
  • Exhibited proficiency with Power Campus student, TES and Transferology.
  • Knowledge and experience in the area of the University Registrar Operations.
