Description

Overview of role:

The Logistics Facilities Maintenance Technician Associate is responsible for providing maintenance and support for a logistics facility's daily operations. This role includes performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the facility and all its components operate efficiently and safely. The technician will assist with the upkeep of machinery, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure. This position requires a hands-on approach to maintaining a clean, safe, and fully functional environment for the facility's operations.

  • Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude: Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and resolve issues on time.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and complete work within deadlines to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols, including properly handling equipment, tools, and hazardous materials.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external contractors.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify potential issues before they become problems and maintain equipment to prevent downtime.

Key Deliverables:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and other facility-related systems.
  • Assist with installing and repairing facility equipment, ensuring systems are running efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, troubleshooting and resolving machinery, systems, and equipment issues.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address potential maintenance concerns (e.g., wear and tear, malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and materials are stored appropriately and safely.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs, ensuring equipment is serviced regularly to avoid breakdowns.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, ordering parts when necessary.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in facility improvement projects or upgrades, providing support as needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training or an associate's degree in a related field preferred).
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, logistics operations, or a similar environment preferred but not required.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with facility systems such as HVAC, electrical wiring, plumbing, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment safely, including hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A solid understanding of safety procedures and the ability to follow all safety guidelines in a facility setting.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or technical training in maintenance or facilities management (e.g., HVAC certification, electrical certification).
  • Previous experience working in a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of computer systems or software used for facility maintenance and reporting (e.g., CMMS or asset management software).
  • Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA regulations, and the ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and supply chain operations.

Technology Requirements:

  • Ability to use maintenance management software (e.g., SAP, CMMS) to log maintenance requests, track inventory, and schedule work orders.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery relevant to the facility maintenance tasks.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems for entering data, tracking inventory, and generating reports.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with various departments.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to notice potential maintenance issues before they impact operations.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and updates to team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding work, including the lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to different locations as necessary.
