We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team and take ownership of all things payroll—from systems and compliance to reporting and continuous improvement. What’s the job?

We’re hiring an experienced and detail-driven Assistant Controller to join our Accounting & Finance team. In this high-impact leadership role, you’ll be responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of our financial reporting and accounting operations. From technical compliance to day-to-day execution, you’ll help ensure our books are tight, our audits are smooth, and our reporting drives strong decisions.


This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both strategic and hands-on work. You’ll lead the month-end close, support global consolidation, implement accounting standards, and collaborate across departments to support Moatable’s growing footprint. You’ll also play a critical part in mentoring the team and optimizing our systems and processes.


This is a full-time, Phoenix-based position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime during deadlines or special projects.


Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead preparation of consolidated financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K)
  • Oversee revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity accounting, capitalized software (ASC 985-20), and lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Manage monthly and quarterly close across multiple entities and subsidiaries
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting and deliver financial insights to senior leadership
  • Maintain SOX compliance and support audit readiness with internal/external teams
  • Assist with income and sales tax reporting and compliance

Operational Accounting

  • Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including GL, AP/AR, payroll accounting, and fixed assets
  • Drive process improvement and automation using tools like Sage Intacct, Paylocity, and PowerBI
  • Standardize accounting policies and practices across global subsidiaries

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing accounting teams
  • Partner with FP&A, legal, tax, and compliance teams on key initiatives including M&A, system integrations, and policy rollouts
  • Act as primary point of contact for external auditors

What’s the work location?

You’ll be based out of our stunning, light-filled headquarters in the Warehouse District of Downtown Phoenix—a 17,000-square-foot space designed for collaboration, creativity, and connection. During onboarding and training, you’ll work in-office five days a week to build momentum, meet your teammates, and ramp up with hands-on support. Once key KPIs and performance metrics are met, you’ll transition to a hybrid schedule of three in-office days per week—giving you the flexibility to balance focused work and in-person collaboration.


What's the earning potential ($$$)? 

First-year earnings? The role offers a base salary of $135,000 - $145,000, plus eligibility for a 20% performance bonus. Bring your best, and there’s real potential to earn more—it’s a great way to turn great work into real rewards! 

Requirements

What are we looking for?

  • CPA certification required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s a plus)
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical standards (ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 985-20)
  • Experience working in or with high-growth SaaS or technology companies
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accountability
  • Strong interpersonal communication—you know how to explain complex things clearly
  • Proven experience managing close processes, financial reporting, and audits

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Paylocity
  • Prior public company or SEC reporting experience
  • Familiarity with SOX 404 internal control frameworks
  • Background in insurance agency or financial services a plus
  • Experience leading global teams and working across time zones
