We founded the company as a fully-remote team (pre Covid!) and are open to applicants that live within a 5 hour time zone difference of US Pacific Time.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Staff or Principal-level Researcher to join Monarch as our first Consumer Insights Researcher. As one of the first hires in this role, you’ll be responsible for understanding our target audience, helping us position Monarch effectively, and ensuring we create the best possible user experience.

You have the opportunity to put tools and resources in place to get started. While we’ll build out the consumer insights team over time, you’ll initially be working independently. We need someone who’s comfortable taking the lead and running with research projects from the ground up. Responsibilities

  • User Insights and Analysis

    • Drive qualitative and quantitative research to understand the needs, motivations, and behaviors of our target audience.

    • Plan and execute research at Monarch to derive actionable insights, employing varying research methods: surveys, interviews, diary studies, etc. 

    • Synthesize research findings into clear insights that are shared with cross-functional teams to directly influence product development and marketing strategies.

  • User Segmentation and Demographics

    • Lead user segmentation and demographic research to create detailed user personas that reflect key customer profiles. Highlighting their needs, fears, and desires.

    • Analyze user data and demographics (e.g., age, income, financial goals) to identify opportunities for tailoring product features and messaging for specific segments.

  • Competitive and Market Research

    • Conduct deep-dive research into funnel drop-off points and engagement challenges, executing tests and implementing solutions to improve user retention and conversion.

    • Assist marketing and creative in developing messaging that resonates with our target audience.

    • Translate findings into actionable insights that directly inform product strategy, competitive positioning, and market expansion opportunities.

  • User-Centered Design and Testing

    • Take a hands-on approach to testing prototypes, user flows, and new features, working closely with the design team to iteratively improve product concepts based on real user feedback.

    • Run rapid usability tests and feedback sessions to ensure new features meet user expectations before full-scale implementation.

  • Reporting and Actionable Insights

    • Execute research findings into actionable product changes, marketing strategies, and business decisions that align with company objectives.

    • Be the voice of the customer.

Responsibilities/ Ideal Candidate:

  • 6+ years of insights and research experience with a balance of qual and quant hands-on expertise.

  • Experience working in B2C tech space.

  • Deep knowledge and expertise writing screeners, surveys and discussion guides.

  • Hands on experience managing survey tools and research participant recruitment.

  • Proven experience using insights to inform product and brand strategy, messaging and the lifecycle journey.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret both qual and quant insights, identify opportunities and share clear learnings across the org and with key stakeholders.

  • Stays current on industry trends and best practices in research.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a hands-on, scrappy attitude.

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
